Im going to be honest .. I fuckin <3<3 drum and bass , but this mix is shit . It doesnt even get remotely good until about 40 mins in , I dont care if its Pendulum or not . If youre a big fan of Tarantula youll love this mix , but that says alot about your tastes in dnb . Im not saying it all has to be hard and dirty , but there better be at least a fuckin half way kosher bassline and some sick drum breaks. Not circus music and 90s alt rock redos. Usually when you see a track list of some of dnbs best producers, the mix isnt complete shit .

ya this mix is 50/50 for me. some good stuff but alot of cheese as to be expected. pendulum...possibly the best producers in electronic music right now, but way too geared towards the mainstream. id love to hear them spend a couple months working on some deeper drum&bass, not just vocal samples and big anthem synth melodies.
but hey... their music is catchy as fuck and extremely well produced. so much so that it gets people who arent into drum&bass into it. there were bikers and punk rockers the other night goin crazy rockin out to tarantula at the bunkhouse. if pendulum gets more people into the music then shit theyr ok with me. after the other night i think im gonna drop tarantula at seven haha

Joe you have an extremely good point , and I totally agree with you .... what ever it takes to open peoples eyes to other forms of electronic music other then trance or house ( not talking shit its just really commen ), and also some people that arent even into electronic music im all for . I saw the reaction of that crowd at the bar and it was great that type of dnb seems to be really well receipted .
I mean even the trance guys are into this set and thats fuckin awesome , to put it in better words... " Im not even mad , thats amazing "
and N dizzle - God forbid any one have a fuckin opinion on a message board , or better yet a music message board . I didnt realize tarantula was the pinnacle of drum and bass for you , I retract my statement . Sorry I just cant get down to some rastafari saying tarantula 47 times in the same song , If maybe they kept it to more of a minimum lets say 6 or even 7 times it might not of been so bad . I also think youre missing most of the point I was trying to make ... The Mix it self not soo much the track listing is shit the track selection doesnt flow right , and from what Ive heard is an increasing trend in uk dnb dj sets . From the random rewind , to the nonsensical mash-up of tracks .I dont give a fuck who you are , everybody has a bad set once in a while , just like everybody produces a shitty track once in a while .
I know it seems like im bashing on pendulum , but honestly im not ... It just struck me as odd that they would all of a sudden get such rave fuckin review from everyone all at once, and are really being played out . To be put on a radio show thats usually reserved for totally other types of electronic music , to rep the drum and bass community when there are so many others that would of been better suited is also a pretty big let down to me . theyre good and theyve produced some pretty sick shit , but in my OPINION theres better . Hey what ever gets people into it is cool, just as long as they get exposed to the other sides of it as well I guess.

EDM as a whole is its own music scene. Each genre within it has its own "Justin Timberlake". Just like in mainstream, genre's push themselves to the forefront. It's a rotation. For example, I remember about 8-10 years ago, Country/Rock had the most play around and Garth Brooks (ugh...) was the "Justin Timberlake" of the time. There is Gangsta Rap when it first started hitting big.... Boy Bands.... Pop/Rock... ect...
Right now, DnB is blowing up in the EDM scene. Don't believe me? Goto a record store and see how many jungle records they have compared to a month a go. Check out Rejoice this weekend and see how many people will be in the DnB room. Pendulum is the "Justin Timberlake" of DnB right now. Maybe not the best (even tho I love their music), but their pushed to the front. There area bunch of other lesser known (but maybe better?) producers. But are you gonna see them on RadioOne? No way....

Haha well Sinister, I dont even like Tarantula, and I havent even listened to the entire mix yet, and hell, I even agree that a lot of DnB sets these days have less mixing and more straight cuts and shit. However I do enjoy Pendulum's high synth songs...and im a big neurostep and hardstep fan so it's not like I only listen to the anthems they produce.
That statement just gave me a sour taste in my mouth cause I don't like when people say someone has a shitty taste in music just because you dont like it. THERE IS AN EXCEPTION FOR EMO MUSIC!!!! I think most of us can agree emo is the pinacle of shitty music and pussy lyrics and "I get beat up at lunch" lifestyle. (My girlfriend listens to emo and I call her a pansy all the time)

Well... to be honest... coming from the FL coast I never EVER heard DnB played. I mean... I MIGHT have heard it somewhere... but it was even MORE of a minority than FL breaks are here on the West Coast.
And, until hearing this set, it has been kinda a turnoff as it is a VAST departure from what I am used to. Just too loud, too inyour face for me.
This was the first DnB set that I was able to listen to the whole way through without feeling like my head has been smashed in with heavy metal.
I have been trying to diversify my tastes as much as possible since I got out here... and it has made me a much better EDM listener than before. I can totally appreciate each genre for what it's worth, and see the differences between them.
I guess what I am trying to say is this... all of the genre/artist bashing is pointless. To each his own. And yeah... this set opened my eyes up enough that I will probably start listening to more DnB now that I am more comfortable with it.
As someone else pointed out to me a little while ago, the production quality of this shit is amazing.

I will also ammend my post to say that... contrary to other people's taste... (since I am listening right now) I thought everything < 40 mins was BETTER! And you thought everything > 40 mins rules...
Maybe they were just smart enough to draw non-listeners in in the first 40 mins.. then satiate you DnB heads in the last 30.....
How can you hate on that?
