BK (www.bkworld.net Nukleuz, Riot Recordings, UK)

Ben Keen, aka BK, is recognized the world over as the most successful and prolific hard dance producer of all time. With worldwide dance chart hits like "Music Is Moving" and "Revolution", BK has reinvented the genre of hard house and breathed new life into the style. And in addition to having conquered the world of hard house with his production skills, BK is positioned to take over the global DJ scene, ranking since 2001 as one of DJmag's top 50 international DJs. He calls his sound "ever-changing and full of energy, with innovative infusions of trance and techno that redefine the hard house style. He believes that the sound of hard house has definitely changed-it's got to, and whether producing or playing, the sounds that BK creates represent the future of the genre.
BK began his production career at age 16 as a trainee engineer at a London studio and gradually progressed into writing music for film and television. In his spare time, he used the studio's equipment to experiment with his own sounds, and it was later, at Media Records, that he began producing original tracks. BK later joined Nukleuz Records, the world's top hard house label, and immediately became known for his profusion of definitive hard house tracks. Since 1995, BK has produced more than one hundred 12 inches and remixes, including remixes of Mario Piu ("The Vision"), Mauro Piccotto ("Iguana"), Storm ("Storm Animal"), DT8 ("Destination"), and Tony De Vit ("I Don't Care"), and recorded tracks for labels ranging from Positiva, Data, and Ministry of Sound to NuLife, Ffrr, and Tidy. Many of his tracks have become UK Top 10 hits, but BK is best known for "Revolution", which with the support of Judge Jules and Dave Pearce, entered BBC Radio One's daytime rotation in 2002 - a singular accomplishment for a hard house track. BK's albums and compilations have also garnered huge success, with his series of Nukleuz Presents compilations (including HardHouse Anthems) earning multiple Mixmag "Album of the Year" awards and the 2003 release Extreme Euphoria Mixed By Lisa Lashes, BK, and The Tidy Boys on track to become the highest-selling hard house album ever.
J. SCOTT G. of
DEEPSKY (DJ SET)
(Deepsky.net / Kinetic Records / Los Angeles, CA)
http://www.deepsky.net/gallery/images/Live/2002/live111.jpg
Hailing from Los Angeles, Deepsky are producers and remixers of world-class music that has rocked dance floors and armchair listeners alike for over a decade. J. Scott G. and Jason Blum discovered their passion for electronic music in the new wave and industrial music of the mid-1980’s, and formed Deepsky in 1992 as the seeds of the American dance scene began to take root. During the course of their 13-year career they have produced and remixed over 40 titles and performed live shows at hundreds of clubs, raves, and music festivals worldwide. From “Tempest”, their 1996 single licensed as theme music to MTV’s “Amp”, to 1997’s worldwide smash hit “Stargazer”, to recent remixes of Seal, Madonna, Paul Oakenfold, and David Bowie, the Deepsky duo have firmly established themselves as one of the busiest and most desirable production teams in America.
Deepsky’s latest original production, the single “Talk Like a Stranger”, is a progressive vocal thriller released on the Yoshitoshi label. The track features a dark, throbbing beat with haunting vocals courtesy of Jes Brieden, and the song has found its way into the sets of some of the world’s most respected DJs like Deep Dish, Ian Ossia, and Paul Oakenfold.
Deepsky’s 2002 artist album, In Silico, is an eclectic journey through a diverse array of styles, featuring driving rhythms, intricate melodies, and meticulous attention to detail—hallmark qualities that fans have come to expect from Deepsky recordings. The critically acclaimed album drew rave reviews from Mixer, URB, Rolling Stone.com, Time Out New York, and a number of other highly regarded media outlets. Highlights from In Silico include the slamming first single, “Jareth’s Church”; “View From a Stairway”, a beautiful work melding electronic breakbeats with classical guitar; and “Mansion World”, a drum ‘n’ bass rework of the single by Elijah Blue’s band Deadsy.
With work appearing on three albums, numerous compilation and mix CDs, and over 30 twelve-inch singles, it’s no surprise that industry heavyweights like Madonna, David Bowie, Paul Oakenfold, Seal, BT, and more have turned to Deepsky for production assistance and remix work. Deepsky’s latest remix endeavor is a progressive treatment of Seal’s “Love’s Divine”, included as a bonus track on the European release of Seal IV. The duo also remixed Madonna’s “Hollywood” from her latest album American Life, and “Die Another Day”, Billboard’s number one selling maxi-single for 2002 and number one record on the Billboard Dance Chart. The “Die Another Day” remix enjoyed widespread praise from underground and mainstream DJs alike, earning Deepsky a nomination for Best Remix at the 2003 DanceStar awards and winning the Breakthrough Remixers of the Year award from Remix Magazine. Other noteworthy Deepsky remixes include “Ventura Highway” by America, David Bowie’s “I Took a Trip in a Gemini Spaceship” and Paul Oakenfold’s “Hypnotized”.

Ryan Jeffs, a.k.a. INERTIA, is co-founder of record label Dream Music. Since his beginning as a key Phoenix DJ a decade ago, he has performed at clubs and events around the US. In 1995, he added music production to his career, and to date he has had eight releases on various labels.
INERTIA's first release, "Sunshine Trip" (Swell Records), was buzzing among the progressive pioneers, and was licensed to John Kelly's "Funky Desert Breaks" (Moonshine). To this day, world-renowned artists commend him on his foresight. Had the masters not been lost, "Sunshine Trip" would have been re-released on Platipus. He co-produced and remixed Dream Music's debut, "Time" by The Dream Traveler. The original was licensed as the opening and only US track on the hugely successful "Tranceport," mixed by Paul Oakenfold (Kinetic). The remix was licensed for Thomas Michael's CD, "West Coast Vibes I" (Phatt Phunk). He followed this up by remixing Markus Schulz's "Rude World" for Dream Music, as well as Frequency Tweeks' "Cloud Leap" and Vertigo Deluxe's "Dark Skies" for Plastik Records. His production for Dream Music, "The INERTIA EP," showcased the diversity of his musical talents with progressive house, driving trance and down-tempo. It was reviewed as Mixer Magazine's "Trance Single of the Month" (Dec 99). From this, "Low Jack" was licensed as the opening track for "Logic Trance 3, Presented by ThousandWords Magazine" (Logic Records), and for Markus Schulz's "Kamaidachi" for BPM Culture Magazine. He also created a worldwide buzz with his remix of Elton John's "Rocket Man," which can be heard from KCRW in LA to Radio1 in the UK. It is also in Mixmag as a Pete Tong "Essential" tune (Sept 2002).
INERTIA continues to move forward as a DJ. His style is hard to categorize, his sets ranging anywhere from tribal house to progressive trance. His talent has taken him all over the country, including the world-famous Simon's in Florida, the legendary Utopia in Las Vegas, and massive events from Boston to Los Angeles. His residency at Scottsdale's Insomnia began in October 1999, and ended when the club closed two years later, after he played to an average of 1200 club-goers each weekend. A testament to his diversity, he opened at Tempe's infamous "Kind" night at Club Freedom for headliners Paul van Dyk, Sandra Collins, Mark Lewis, Carlos, Lenny Fontana, Frankie Bones, Doran Chambers, John Debo, and Taylor.
