i'm currently involved in the electro scene, but that's not really where my roots are at; i'm an advid IDM fan, mostly, but i like doing different things with electro... while the whole ed banger thing was cool for a while, i'm trying to ween myself off the stuff. :P

where are your roots?

Originally I was a classical musician. In high school I played in rock bands & jazz bands too and wrote a lot of original material. At music school I became more interested in experimental and avant-garde music, minimalism too, and I wrote more original material. I gradually became disillusioned with the stuffiness, snobbery and politics of the classical scene, and so I moved on.

I didn't get into EDM until I was 19. After college I started collecting vinyl and I bought decks, and I got my feet wet in terms of promotion and playing out. A friend introduced me to Detroit Techno, which I immediately latched onto. The austerity and ambiguity of minimal tech forms the basis of my DJing sound today.

I aim for a sleek, weird, cheese-free sound, basically.
