a community is a group with simmilar interests & refering to the same area??? we have some same issues & concerns? a scene is just a hipster term for what you choose to do with your nights/freetime....... We are a community because we all know each other & bitch about the same things

A community to me is a group of people with a common characteristic or interest living together within a larger society. We all post on this message board, so it is a community.

A scene is sphere of activity; IE nightlife and musical interests.

I like telling this story...but I fucking hate typing it...

What makes this a community?
I was back for winterbreak from spring break in 01' and hadn't been to a rave/party/whatever my whole time back and it's all I wanted. I used the boards to dig up sceenames and someone who goes by Zero now and her at the time boyfirend picked me up and took me to the party without knowing me or anyone who knew me.

I get back to town and theres some party called dusk till dawn going on, and some wingless angel decides to give me some dumbass named the saints number, who again, without knowing me, picks me up and we drive out to the middle of fucking nowhere in search or ....ah yes.....a party....

then a few weeks later, some random jew picks me up to take me to the lake where a bumch of other randomcrackheads were cliffdiving, and while unfortunatly she gets a ticket on the way back, point is, she had no idea who I was, and she jsut showed up and took me. I dont even think she asked for gas money...and she was a fucking JEW!!!!!!


thats what makes me feel this is a community. not jsut a scene. See, and its more than just a community even. It's this fucking massive......hrmm...

we're all family here. I may have never met you, but that just means your a distant cousin. And yeah, some people, like that guardian from eraver guy, are like those uncles that are locked up in prison for god knows what, and some like seraph are those grandmas that wear too much perfume, and then theres the kids like o-zone who are the stepbrothers that went off to college in italy so you dont hear from them in a while.....but we're all family. The greatest part is, to some extent, if you really love the people and the music and youre not some faker, then yeah youre family too, and hell the fakers are still like neighors to your relatives..you dont seem as often but you knw who they are, and theyre welcome over sometimes.

the beautiful thing here, is that we are a family...an entire unit...within about a 10 yr range...we are a family within a geration, and while that sounds like something that should only be possible in alabama, it's really bigger than that....and better.....I dont have to know you to be willing to drive you home from some party to make sure youre there safe. You dont have to know me to be willing to offer a ride. Yeah, it's a little risky, but someone knows somone who knows someone here. and we've all pretty much checkd out as NOT psychotic killers, and the ones that might go that way, well....I'm pretty sure theyre gone or living witht their mothers in washington (I hear the antichrist is on the way). Yeah,....even she's family.

Maybe I'm wrong, but to me, that's what makes this a community, but even higher above that, it's what makes this a FAMILY.
