HALLUCINATION ON FILM

feat. visuals by BERKELEY of Hallucination Recordings (Hallucination on Film)

From small dark clubs to massive outdoor festivals, always turning it out - it is here where you, the subterranean public may encounter The Monk...... the Mack-Of-All-Trades, dj/producer/artist and overall hustler of culture. Banging out a soundtrack of underground party music that jumps from hard house and breaks to slamming disco-tech, and twisted techno, to drum and bass rinse-outs, the dreadlocked Monk punishes the crossfader as he works one record against another in a style that owes more to hip hop than to conventional club DJ'ing.

As one of the Founders of Rabbit in the Moon, Pimp Juice and Hallucination Records, Monk is a corner stone of the Southeastern U.S. Scene and has established himself as a devoted player in the Electronic Music Industry worldwide. Best known for his early work and collaboration with Confucius in the collective "Rabbit In The Moon" and as the opening dj to the RITM live show for over a decade ('92-2002), Monk is breaking new ground with several new innovative audio-visual projects.

One of the most versatile djs around, Monk is known for his unique dj sets ranging from his traditional hardbangin' house -vs- funky breaks style with a touch of drum bass hip hop, to a deeper "Dark Side Of The Monk" set that leans toward a darker tech-house meets tribal disco house style. If Monk can't make yo' booty move, yo' booty must be dead. Voted in BPM magazine as receiving the "most fan email nominations" in the country and one of Americas Favorite DJs - March 2003, Monk has forged his place in the underground dance community. A forefather of the Hallucination-Generation, originator, innovator, guaranteed to rock tha party, Monk continues to freak the funk week in week out headlining shows across the nation.

JOSH "THE FUNKY 1"
Funky House/Breaks & Turntablism
(System Recordings/Fused Management/Funktion Recordings - Chicago, Illinois)
1:30am - 3:00am

Josh “The Funky 1” hails from Chicago USA, the home of House Music. A DJ for over 12 years, Josh blends a unique style of Funky House, Tech House and Breaks, while incorporating ill-scratching turntable tricks.Josh’s passion for the art of DJ’ing first came about when he discovered Hip-Hop while still in grade school. A fan of early pioneering Hip-Hop groups like Public Enemy, EPMD, and Eric B and Rakim, he was enthralled by the art of scratching. One day a friend lent Josh a videotape of a DJ battle, which unknowingly turned out to be a D.M.C battle, the most renowned DJ Battle in the world. Josh practiced and honed his skills relentlessly. His passion and persistence proved to be worthwhile, as he has since displayed his skills in some of the most prestigious DJ battles in the world. 1997 saw Josh become a D.M.C finalist.

In 1999 Josh competed in the Winter Music Conference scratching competition where he was runner up to 3-time world champion DJ Craze. In the year 2000 he took 1st place in the beat-mixing competition at the Winter Music Conference DJ spin off.

Aside from competing Josh’s passion for music has led him to compile several mix compilations including his own “House Funktion” series, which showcases his diverse music selection and wicked turntable skills. Josh has also helped to co-produce legendary DJ Bad Boy Bill’s “Bangin in the Box Volume 4” and “Banging in London” mix compilation.

As if his DJ’ing accomplishments were not enough Josh has also had his hand in the studio producing tracks for the infamous Chicago labels I.H.R, Kid Dynamite and Strictly Hype Recordings. His tracks have been featured on mix compilations and DJ play-lists throughout the world, further establishing his reputation as a DJ / Producer.

Not one to be content with only producing records for other labels, in 2001 “The Funky 1” launched his own record label Funktion Recordings. The first release “Everybody Everywhere” by BSJ and Fun-k has found its way into record boxes of DJ’s worldwide.

2005 Josh embarks on his US tour in support of his new mix cd on System Records titled Universal Sound.
